02 · The Architect

Leadership Forged in Global Cyber Command

Republic of Korea

U.S. Chairman, C4I Joint U.S.-Korean Working Group

Executed an $880 million program delivering the SMART City backbone of the $16 billion-plus Yongsan Relocation Plan: 127 IT portfolio packages, 200 miles of wire and fiber, and over 600 structures totaling 25 million square feet for 48,000 relocating U.S. forces.

U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM)

Chief, J63 — Operations, Plans & Defensive Cyber

Directed secure communications and cyber defense for 10,000+ users across Europe and Africa, commanding the 24/7 AFRICOM Network Command Center, two Cyber Protection Teams, 130+ personnel, and $50 million-plus in support contracts.

U.S. Army Cyber Command

Deputy Chief of Staff & G6/CIO

Synchronized staff and operations across a 16,000-person global cyber command, and directed the IT and cyber infrastructure design for the new ARCYBER headquarters relocation from Ft. Belvoir to Ft. Gordon.

U.S. Army Cyber Command

Founding Director, Cyber Capability Development & Integration

Established the Department of the Army's cyber capabilities directorate and led the team that authored the initial Field Manual 3-12 — the Army's foundational doctrine for cyberspace and electromagnetic warfare.

Defining the National Cyber Posture

“Defining the DOD Role in National Cybersecurity”

U.S. Army War College

A Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and a Masters in Information Management Systems anchor a career of doctrine-level thinking — including standing up the Army's cyber capabilities directorate and authoring its foundational cyberspace warfare field manual. M3K Innovations carries that strategic discipline into civilian infrastructure: resilience, governance, continuity, and systems integration at national scale.

04 · The Legacy

The SMART City Is Already Built

Camp Humphreys SMART City

The $16B+ Yongsan Relocation Plan

As U.S. Chairman of the C4I Joint U.S.-Korean Working Group, Col. Schonberg executed an $880 million budget that enabled the SMART City concept at the heart of the $16 billion-plus Yongsan Relocation and Land Partnership Plans — realigning 48,000 U.S. forces onto one intelligent, connected installation.

The build: 127 discrete IT portfolio packages, thousands of line items of C4I equipment, 200 miles of wire and fiber optics, and more than 600 structures totaling 25 million square feet — a functioning smart city, delivered at a scale few programs on Earth have ever attempted.
